Work
experience
Optometrist:
Specsavers Bristol, 2012-2014:
I spent two years after I qualified working full-time for a busy Specsavers practice in Bristol city centre. My main duties as an Optometrist include eye examinations and contact lens assessments. Eye examinations can cover anything from a simple refraction to fit for glasses to more extensive ocular health checks to assess for any disease and refer appropriately.  It is also my responsibility with my contact lens patients to instruct and train them on lens insertion and removal and good contact lens hygiene and care regimen. Alongside eye examinations I have also been involved in training new members of staff with no optometric background to be able to dispense and triage patients appropriately.

Locum Optometrist, Bristol area; 2014-2015:
As a locum Optometrist I worked for several different multiples; Specsavers, Vision Express, Boots. I also spent some time working with a refractive surgery company - Optimax. My duties in Optimax included; pre-surgery consultations to assess for suitablilty, post-surgery consultations to ensure the eye is healing, and aftercare for up to 6 months or longer when necessary to assess and monitor the eyes post-surgery.

Specsavers Liffey Valley, 2015- present:
I recently relocated to Dublin and have taken up a part-time position as an Optometrist with a newly opened store in Liffey Valley. My duties as an Optometrist are similar to before - eye examinations and contact lens assessments. I also get to spend some more time now with the patients' helping with the choosing and fitting of spectacles etc...
